Certified Yoga Instructor RYT 500, Elizabeth Stone created the methodology behind Yoga Bands® when she discovered Yoga wasn’t enough. Elizabeth had a hamstring injury that wasn’t healing from yoga alone. Managing the pain from sacroiliac joint issues & scoliosis, she began working with Yoga Bands®, and was amazed at how quickly she experienced relief.
Working with her yoga students, she noticed many people had muscle groups that were under developed. In order to do more advanced yoga poses, the musculature that supports the hips and shoulder girdles needed to be strengthen and developed.
Unfortunately, Westernized, Chain Yoga doesn’t always support people who have injuries or mobility concerns. Students often had asymmetries in the body that created excessive strain when holding static poses for too long. Conscious movement with resistance bands, added the therapeutic quality Elizabeth was looking for.
While pursuing her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy, she worked at an out of network (insurance) clinic; People couldn’t always get the therapeutic services they needed in order to heal and rehab effectively. Elizabeth hopes Yoga Bands® products & online videos will reach everyone, beginners and seasoned yogis alike.
Along with over 900 hours of Yoga Training, Elizabeth draws on her BA in Art Education & 15 years as a Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Practitioner. When she isn’t teaching Yoga Bands® or creating curriculum for Inner – City Yoga®, you can find Elizabeth hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains.
